What does a website cost
in South Africa?

Start with a clear scope, not just a number. This guide explains NovaSite.Cloud’s published website packages and the questions to ask before accepting a quote. It is a guide to our own pricing, not a survey of market or competitor prices.

The published NovaSite.Cloud packages

The current source website lists three once-off packages in South African rand: Starter R2,000, Business R2,500 and Premium R3,500. They give you a starting point for discussing the project. Your written proposal confirms the actual deliverables, scope limits, revision arrangements, tax treatment and third-party costs.

Starter lists a five-page responsive website, contact form, basic SEO setup and one revision round. Business lists ten pages, custom animations, full SEO optimisation, CMS integration, speed and analytics, and three revision rounds. Premium lists unlimited pages and revisions, e-commerce readiness, 3D and motion design, custom integrations and priority support.

Broad package wording still needs a defined project scope. In particular, “unlimited” does not describe a delivery schedule, and “e-commerce ready” does not specify every payment, courier or inventory integration. Ask how those items apply to your brief. See the full package comparison.

What can change the quote?

A page with a few approved service descriptions is different from a store with product variants, stock management and checkout. Even sites with the same page count can need different amounts of work.

  • Content: who supplies the text, photographs, product data and translations, and whether existing content needs rewriting.
  • Functionality: bookings, applications, payments, customer accounts, uploads and external integrations.
  • Migration: moving pages, images or products from an existing platform and mapping old URLs.
  • Editing: whether your team needs a CMS, what it should manage and any training or access arrangements.
  • Design: the number of distinct layouts, required motion and the review process.

Share these needs early. A service business website and an operational online store should be quoted around their different requirements.

Separate the build from ongoing costs.

A once-off development price does not mean every service used by the website is free forever. Ask which ongoing costs apply, who pays them and which account holds the subscription.

  • Domain: registration and renewal of the website address.
  • Hosting: the service that keeps the website available.
  • Business email: any mailbox licence or provider subscription.
  • Integrations: payment transaction fees, booking tools, form services or other subscriptions.
  • Maintenance: content changes, technical updates, backups and support beyond the agreed build.

No fixed renewal or maintenance fee is assumed here. NovaSite.Cloud confirms provider costs and support arrangements in the proposal. Ask whether taxes are included and how future price changes will be handled.

Compare the same deliverables.

When comparing proposals, write down the page list, content responsibilities, functional features, review rounds and launch checks. Also compare domain ownership, source-code handover, administrator access, licences and ongoing support. A lower headline price can describe a smaller scope.

For a booking or e-commerce project, ask what will actually work at launch and what needs a separate provider account. For a redesign, ask whether migration and redirects are included. For SEO, distinguish a one-time setup from an ongoing content and reporting service.

Read the website provider selection guide for a fuller set of questions.

Get a quote that can be acted on.

Send your business name, what you sell, the main goal of the website, an approximate page list and any required integrations. Include your existing URL, preferred timing and whether your logo, text and images are ready.

Before agreeing to proceed, confirm the payment milestones, content deadlines, included revisions, expected delivery date and handover. These are project decisions, not assumptions to make from a pricing card.
